Project: SOL HIA Fuel Farm

Description:

This project required GID to gather soil data beneath an existing reinforced concrete runway slab at a defunct airport in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia. Over the course of a week, we secured the Modular Matt to pre-cast steel anchors in the concrete runway to provide the necessary reaction force for testing. We conducted 8 CPTs within the runway using the steel anchors and another 7 CPTs within the greenfield space north of the runway using conventional soil augured anchors. Each test was conducted up to a maximum depth of 15m as required from the project Terms of Reference. All 15 CPTs were conducted with attendant pore water pressure measurement, along with dissipation tests to determine piezometric levels.
