Project: Sandals Beaches Resort
Date: June 2021
Location: Buccament Bay, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Tests Performed: CPTs | Test Pit Logging
Description:
We utilised the Modular Matt on a 7-day on-site investigation in Buccament Bay, St. Vincent, as part of Sandals Resort International's efforts to redevelop the previous Buccament Bay Hotel into a new 'Sandals Beaches' Resort. We were tasked with completing 10 CPTs within the 49.5 acre site, along with logging 22 test pits. Ongoing building demolition works of existing buildings meant that we had to confer closely with the demolition contractor to preserve the safety of our staff and equipment.
Each CPT was carried out with attendant pore water pressure measurement up to a maximum depth of 25m. Dissipation tests were also conducted to determine the static piezometric level at each test sounding location. Given the proximity of the site to the Buccament River and Caribbean Sea, depth to the water table within each test bore was measured using a dip meter, to determine whether the static piezometric level coincided with the water table.
